Anasazi Animal Clinic, Inc. opened its doors in May 1987 in Gilbert, AZ. Still a sleepy country town, Gilbert had a need for animal population control. From the beginning, we at Anasazi saw the need and created the Anasazi Stray Fund to help alleviate this problem. Thousands of stray animals have found their way to our doors and after being spayed or neutered, make their way into people's homes and hearts.
As the clinic grew, so did our family of loving
supporters and thus the number of needy animals that we were able to help. A conscientious clientele has aided our endeavors, many of which have started their own adoption programs.Perpetuated by our desire to "pay back" to a wonderful community, our Anasazi Stray Fund program is also supported by our loyal patrons, who donate money, blankets, towels, time and even their homes to our furry companions.
Anasazi Animal Clinic, Inc. is also closely associated with Friends for Life Animal Sanctuary, a local nonprofit organization. Through Friends for Life and Phoenix-area Animal Coalition (PAC); a joint effort between Friends for Life and local veterinarians, businesses and individuals - Anasazi is able to provide discounted spays and neuters and other veterinary services to low-income families and stray population caregivers. PAC is organized and managed by Friends for Life Animal Sanctuary and operates primarily through a monthly Spay Day hosted by a local veterinary clinics and staffed by volunteers.
We usually have 2-4 kittens and frequently, homeless puppies on display in our reception area. Potential adoptive parents must be interviewed and complete an adoption agreement. Currently we have:
Larry
The Pirate
Larry came to Anasazi from a litter of feral kittens in the East Valley. Brought to us young enough, he and his siblings, Mo and Curly, were soon tamed with love and good groceries. Larry was adopted to what we had screened as a good home at about ten weeks of age. He was brought back to us with a severe eye infection that should have received medical attention long before it did. Dr. Nossaman demanded that Larry be relinquished to the clinic. Aggressive medical therapy failed and Larry had to have his eye removed. What a shame! But Larry doesn't seem to mind. He's just glad he doesn't have a headache any more. He is currently studying greeting skills from Uncle Rex. He's developing "aren't I cute" skills all on his own.Anna Banana
Anna ate too much thread! It sawed through her intestines and caused a severe infection. Surgery required removing ½ of her small intestine that gave her chronic diarrhea unless she was on a special diet. Her owner had more than one cat which made keeping Anna on a strict diet impossible. After trying for months to place her, Anna joined those who had saved her and loved her here at Anasazi. But Anna would love to have a real home of her own in a single cat household.
